SEO – The Various Aspects

Published by Rob Sevilla on March 21st, 2012 - in Advertising - S.E.O

A lot of you have heard the term search engine optimization, and if you were anything like me, your ears started shutting down and your eyes would glaze over, in that non techie response we all have to the hidden world of computer programming. Well do not feel bad. Actually search engine optimization does have many aspects to it however, a lot of them are very simply no brainer things that you can easily handle. All the term means is that your making, or streamlining your site to make it the best site for what ever your promoting on the Internet. Your making it easier for both the future customers to find you, and for the search engines to categorize you, that is all it really means. So do not let it intimidate you in any way. Especially when your putting together work at home blogs, those are the easiest to streamline.

A basic rule I always go by when putting together a new site is work from the top down. The domain name to the footer. Set up a simple format like this and check everything off when completed:

Fav-Icon
URL
Header – Image
Title
Meta Description
Keywords
Headings for Posts
Images
Text / Image Ratio
Site Map
Footer – Legal Links Pages

Make sure that in each section you are directing both the search engines, and future customers towards one goal, getting them to where you want them to go. For the search engines, it will be to directing the correct traffic you want to find. They will send that if they understand what it is your promoting. They do this by reading meta tag and keyword descriptions, remember engines can not “read” pictures. This will also include setting up a site map, and it is just what it is called. A road map for search engines to classify your site, and it’s various pages. For the future leads, or customers you will get them by proper keywords, and images that they can relate to. People are very visual, so use plenty of pictures. When putting together a work at home blog you should always make sure to do every one of the categories listed above.

4 Advanced SEO Tactics

Published by Rob Sevilla on August 26th, 2011 - in Advertising - S.E.O

Search engine optimization is an essential component of success with an online business. Free targeted traffic from the search engines is the best way to increase traffic to your website, so ultimately you can make more money. Provided you have the basics down of SEO, here are four tactics to help you improve your search engine rankings even more. We’ve all been taught that the best form of backlinks are in anchor form using your site’s main keywords as the clickable text. That may be true, but you do not wish to do so with the same keyword phrase every time. It is best to also include some natural form of anchor text linking to your site as well. Try different keywords that are your most important keywords, as anchor text from time to time.

The second tactic, and one that I see used more and more these days, is to link your back links. Some call this a linkwheel. By increasing the links to your links, you will increase the quality of your original links thus boosting your page rank as well, and increasing your ranking in the search engines. So if you could have a good article in a newspaper root directory, then bookmark the link of your article, and have it lead to another link, then back to your site.

This brings me to my next tip which is to focus the majority of your efforts on picking up high quality backlinks. It is best for your site to spend time and make a long-term commitments in the effort of looking for high quality links, rather than a lot of links from sites of poor quality. Many people feel like they’re doing more by getting more links but this is not necessarily true. You can put in the same amount of time and work, and get some high quality links, and your site will benefit from it much more further down the road. This is a more intelligent way to administer advanced seo tactics.

The last tactic that I want to share with you involves creating hub pages in the same niche or areas your website. Search engines love these pages, and usually reward them with high page rankings. When you set up a few of these hub pages, and point them back to your website, it is going to boost your rankings and PR as well. You should also discuss bookmarking your pages, and ping-strokes the backlinks to your site as mentioned in the second tactic. If you follow these advanced seo tactics you will be well on your way to increasing your visibility and traffic.

On Page SEO Explanation

Published by Rob Sevilla on July 11th, 2011 - in Advertising - S.E.O

To keep things simple, an “SEO On Page Explanation” is that it is the creation of optimized content using search engines on page elements, including text, graphics, tags and links. It is impractical to expect that simply putting up a website with good content will result in it ranking well on the search engines and receiving lots of visitors. In fact, the result is likely that nothing happens.

So if you want a high search engine ranking you need to consider on page SEO as you create your site. Sufficient on page SEO is an attempt to manipulate search engines in a way so it ensures how the engines read your website content. In effect you are picking a keyword and telling the search engines that this page is highly relevant to that keyword.

Of course, search engines, and their spiders, can not see your page. They are just looking for indicators of the importance. This will involve looking at the text in the title tags, in the header tags and in the image ALT tags plus looking at the links and their anchor text amongst other things. You can still bring attention to your keywords with a few cases, in bold or larger font.

On page SEO can be viewed much like writing in a way that would enable a six year old to pick up on the subject without any need to understand the content as a whole. If you convince the search engines that have very relevant content for the keyword you have reached a necessary first step, but that will not be enough to get a high ranking.

On Page SEO can be thought of as “what you say” about your page. However, the search engines will not take your word for it. They also place more importance on what other people say about your page. Other sites can “vote” to link to your site.

The important point to note is that if you do not say anything (your on page SEO is poor and the search engines are not sure what your page is about) it will be difficult to get a high ranking even with lots of backlinks. If you understand, given the definition and importance of SEO, it will be your best tool to bring in qualified targeted traffic looking to read, or buy, whatever it is you are promoting in your website or blog.
