Should I get Domain & Hosting?

Published by Rob Sevilla on April 4th, 2012 - in Advertising - Domain Name & Hosting

Well lets see, if you ever have a hope to make money online then my answer is yes! Look one of the main ways that people find you is by typing in your domain name right? Now this also kind of falls into the category of keyword research, so you will need to do both when find the “right” domain name for your website. First and foremost make sure that you do research on what people are typing in when looking for what ever it is you are pitching. Now of course it is 2012 and the Internet has been around almost twenty years as a commercial entity, so most of the good names are long gone. However, do not despair. You may still get the name you want, but in a country code form like .us, or a .org, or .net form. These are not so bad and still rank decently in the search engines, just not as well as .com obviously. When checking to see if domain names have been taken use Go Daddy’s checker, it is on their main home page and will tell you instantly if you can buy the domain name.

Now getting back to picking the right name, make sure it is keywords that tell your potential leads right away what you are all about. If you sell golf clubs. Then you would want to get something like professionalgolfclubs.com, I’m sure that is taken but you get the point. So maybe try professionalgolfclubs.net, that might be open. If marketed correctly it can rank just as well. The .nets are only $9.99, for the whole year! Now when dealing with hosting companies I could write a thesis on this subject. However, if you are reading this I’m going to assume that you are relatively new to this business, so lets not get you all confused and pulling your hair out. You simply need a straight forward account with somebody like Hostgator.com, they are the big boys on the block. However, they do not charge an arm and a leg. If you are just getting up and running and are only looking to host a simple blog, then get their unlimited web hosting plan is good, it is only $3.96 per month!

After you have bought your domain on GoDaddy, and set up your hosting with Hostgator then simply connect the two by something called name servers. On your GoDaddy account you will change the name serves to the ones that Hostgator uses. It is very simple, I promise. Once the name servers are changed your domain and Hostgator account are connected. Now you simply tell Hostgator what platform you would like to use for your site. Most people choose WordPress, but you can choose anything you want. That is what makes getting your domain and hosting so great. You can now upload any site information and plugins you whish. You can finally create a professional looking site that will get more traffic. So stop hesitating and get your site together so you can start making real money.

How To Purchase Domain Names

If you are brand new to internet marketing I would suggest you start off with an affiliate program. Most will supply you with a free website, which is a huge benefit to people just getting started in the industry. However, if you are not interested in affiliate marketing. You will have to build one from scratch. Well the first thing you will want to do is get yourself a domain name or url. Which stands for uniform recourse locator. Now the best place in the world to find one and buy it is GoDaddy.com. I have found over the last several years their customer service second to no one. Plus, the options you get with the purchase of a url are unbelievable. Now remember when trying to find “the right” url for your site. Think about what your customers would type in to find you, more specifically your products. Make it easy for them.

Now these days you are offered many choices when it come to what type of url, meaning do you want a .com, .gov, .us, etc. I would suggest only buying the .com first. Then you can buy the others if you want to completely dominate the url title. The .com sites always rank better then the other ones. The dot com stands for commercial, in case you were wondering. Now another great function with GoDaddy, is you can buy extremely cheap email packages to go with your url. So you would have custom email names as well. http://www.yoursite.com is your url, and your email would say Joe@yoursite.com. Defiantly do this. There are two reasons. First you will not be restricted on the amount of backlinks you can submit to directories. Number two, people will not have a hard time remember your email because it is your site name. These are all things to keep in mind when learning how to purchase domain names.

Also I’ll bet you did not know that GoDaddy does it’s own self hosting. That is right, so if your looking to create a simple little site, then host with them. Now need to go out and get another hosting account, and the best part, it is free! Plus, say your tired of your domain and would like to sell it, you can create a free page announcing to the world that your site is for sale. Again this is a free service as well. As I mentioned before their tech support is the best, 24 hours seven days a week. So if you have got some kind of emergency then just give them a call. They will not stop working with you until you have got your problem solved. There is a reason why they are the number one domain purchasing site in the world, and it is because they are the best. So if you are going to purchase domain names, then go to the top dog, GoDaddy.

How To Forward Your Godaddy Domain

I wanted to make a brief tutorial on how to forward your godaddy domain. There are many people who are joining online business opportunities that don’t know how to forward their domain to their sites.  Always make sure to chose a domain name that is relevant to your particular niche.  Choose a domain name that isn’t too flashy or spammy, but at the same time not too boring.  Hope this helps…

Not Sure About Domain Registrations?

Published by Rob Sevilla on August 10th, 2011 - in Advertising - Domain Name & Hosting

Domain name registration is a necessary step. You need to establish a simple and strategically important online presence, whether for business or other purposes. A well-chosen domain name registration can set you up for success with your new site in so many ways, the most prominent of these being increased search engine traffic. Here are some important elements to consider when you register a domain name. A good domain name registration, particularly for an online business, (which is the main focus of this article) is easily done, but at the same time requires choices that will impact your site’s effectiveness. So here, in no particular order, there are some things to consider when doing a domain name.

The extension – will it be a com. .net .org. .info etc. Each of them is to be spidered and indexed by search engines, but if you get a . com for your chosen name you’d be better really good, as this extension is more common and carries an air of legitimacy with it. Do not try to have a domain name registration with your web host. The reason being that should you decide to part ways with your host, (and this isn’t uncommon!) it’s potentially
a massive headache to move your domain as well.

Believe me you will not regret it! Your domain name registration, should be purchased from a reputable company, and will run anywhere between $ 1-10, depending on the extent, and amount of time you are looking for. Probably the most important aspect of your domain name registration is the choice of keywords to use in your domain name. Try to use the main keyword, or phrase you are selling, or service you offer, this will help to optimize your entire site, so see if you can create a domain name around it. The search engines seem to favor keyword-rich domain names. Keep it short if possible. A shorter name is easier to remember than a long. Don’t use your company name unless it has your keywords in it.

Try to keep your domain name registration topically relevant. As search engines get smarter, and smarter, sites that cover a total display get higher relevance ranking all sites. Lastly, be sure to avoid other companies trademarks, and copyrights in your domain name. For example, say you are an affiliate of The Sharper Image. It’s tempting to use some version of that name to promote your affiliate site, but don’t do it, unless of course you’d like to meet their lawyers! To sum up, your domain name registration is easy to do, but important to do well. You can make a difference whether you will be found in or not.
